It is often the case that the symptoms of personal issues or the challenges which we experience may be quite visible. However, the causes underpinning these challenges may frequently tend to be deep rooted for many people who are struggling to cope at a deeper level in their daily lives. We may secretly know something is wrong, but we cannot always name it. Contacting and meeting with a professional Clinical Psychotherapist or councillor can prove to be an invaluable turning point in your life. Finding the appropriate means of support will bring fresh insight ,resolution, coping strategies, relief, and well-being to your inner being. Brideswell Psychotherapy and Counselling will provide you with a safe, professional and confidential space to work through and process those issues, many of which may be too difficult to share with even those nearest and dearest to you.

My private clinic is situated in an extremely private area just 5 minute drive from Kilcock village Co. Kildare which is just off the M4 motorway. I work with clients from all areas of Ireland, including Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Louth, Meath, Cavan and other counties across Leinster, Munster, Connacht and Ulster. I have built a solid reputation for professionalism, confidentiality and trust. Indeed, I am also well noted for succeeding in difficult situations where many other therapists have failed.

Each person is assessed individually so the most appropriate therapy for that person is implemented. For further information about the therapies I provide, please read the information under the tabs on this website. I do hope my site helps you to obtain a clearer picture of what to expect when you book a counselling and psychotherapy session with Brideswell Counselling.

A message from Margaret

Sometimes it may feel like life is simply too difficult to cope with, there may be a single issue or a combination of many factors that are causing you unhappiness. Talking about these issues can shed a light into the darkness and give you meaning which will then help you uncover a better way forward. Brideswell Psychotherapy and Counselling will work through and process those issues which are frequently too difficult or confidential to share with even your nearest and dearest friends or family.

I work with clients from all areas of Ireland including Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Louth, Meath, and other counties across Leinster, Munster, Connacht and Ulster both professionally and non-professionally, and I have built a solid reputation for professionalism, confidentiality and trust. I am also well noted for succeeding in difficult situations where many other therapists have failed.

Recommendations for a person to consider before selecting/attending a Psychotherapist/Counsellor.

People frequently use the words "psychotherapy," "counselling" and "therapy" to convey the same thing.

A Clarification on the difference

Counselling is typically a brief treatment that targets a specific symptom or situation, such as family issues or grief. At the same time, Psychotherapy is usually a longer-term treatment consisting of a variety of treatment techniques that aim to help you identify and change unhealthy emotions, thoughts, and behaviours through conversations with a professionally qualified mental health therapist. It can help with several different issues, ranging from stress and relationship challenges to mental health conditions.

Psychotherapy should always take place with an experienced (minimum ten years post qualification/accreditation) trained and accredited mental health professional, such as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychotherapist, or Psychiatrist, who can provide support, education, and guidance to you (your partner as in Couple therapy) and/or your family to enable you to function better and increase your well-being.

Psychotherapy may be used in combination with medication or other therapies or as a standalone treatment.

Five Important Suggestions to consider before selecting a Psychotherapist/Counsellor

It may be helpful to ask a potential therapist the following questions:

➤Look for professional accreditation with a Recognised body such as the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI), British Psychological Society (BPS), Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapists (IAHIP)

➤The Nature of your proposed therapist's training. Ask questions about the duration of the therapist training/professional supervision. What Irish /British recognised University validated and awarded their degree/postgrad.

➤Clinical Experience Counts. How many years of training/Accreditation experience does the therapist have? (Minimum of 10 years recommended)

➤Discuss the type of therapy your potential therapist provides or specialises in and consider how it may fit your objectives/needs.

➤Policy on phone calls during your therapy session (therapist/client), phone calls during the week and cancellation policy.

To book an appointment, please call me on 016917355 or e-mail at margaretkennelly@hotmail.com leaving your name and contact. In the event of I not being available to talk at the time of your call please leave a message and I will get back to you within the working day.
